DJ turn tables are the key tool used by club DJs. One of the best and most well known type of DJ turn tables is the Technics turntable.

What is beat mixing using a Technics turn table?

When playing music off records being able to change the tempo of tracks is essential to keep the dance floor moving. One record's tempo can be changed to match the other and allow the rhythmical sections (the drums) to overlap. This pitch adjustment of the records beats per minute (BPM, tempo) is possible on the legendary Technics turntables the SL1200 and SL1210.

Vestax PDX-2000 Turntable (approx. $450)

This is a serious piece of DJ equipment. We have tried one and the torque is great. It can also reverse the platter and has greater pitch adjustment than the Technics. The stop times can also be adjusted for extra fun. Owning these would certianly make mixing more entertaining. If you have the money then we would totally recommend getting these. The only problem is that if you get used to this luxury turntable when you have to use something else you will miss all your features and torque.

Numark TTX1 Direct-Drive Turntable

Numark TT200 Direct Super High Torque Turntable (approx.$299)

This is a reduced cost turntable that is nearly as good as the Technics. It has enough torque and all the new features at a reduced cost. These would be fine for learning and even playing out at parties. Another positive thing is when you use something better your mixing can only improve. Numark also make other similar models (in price and features) but we have not tried them all.

The DP-DJ151 allows your vinyl records to maintain a constant key (vocal) even when the platter rotation speed is changed by the Pitch slider. This is also known as "time stretching" to keep the vocals from sounding too fast or slow.
